A message from God to me about Selfish Prayers...

In the spring and summer of 2016 after my encounter with God the Trinity (February 27, 2016) the Holy Spirit would awaken me around mid-night, sometimes later, a couple of times the same exact time back-to-back. And I would be up until sun rise, receiving audible downloads from our Heavenly Father.

On one occasion God spoke to me about how so many of His children are praying selfish prayers and the fact that so many do not understand that there are conditions to receiving answered prayers.

The Holy Spirit led me to DPM – Derek Prince Ministries @ dpm.org and God stated that I should continue to follow his teachings. On the DPM website there is an abundance of articles approximately four pages long, many of which served to enlighten me in my walk with God and everything that He was blessing me with.

In fact, I had a couple of dreams about Derek Prince, one in particularly he was receiving an award in Heaven. The award was in black and white print, it stood out, like a banner, long and horizontal as I recall.

Up Close and Personal

Many moons ago, in my first marriage (my early 20’s) things got really bad and I would pray and ask God to change my husband. I wanted and needed him to love me as much as I loved him. He was a womanizer and later into the marriage he became verbally and physically abusive, at this point it was time for me to go. At one point he tried to burn my face with an iron, I was ironing at the time. I fought him tooth and nail; however, I still have the scar on my shin where the iron burned me, I was on crutches for about a week. There’s a lot more to this story, but I’ll end it here.

I detest bullies, always have and during those days I was a different kind of warrior and fearless. I was a survivor though.

Nonetheless, later, even before my intimate relation with the Holy Spirit, I realized that God had saved me from this marriage. More importantly, since my walk with God I have learned that God is a jealous God, and in my opinion, rightfully so! He is The Creator!

I too, was a selfish prayer, I was raised Catholic, my mother was a prayer warrior, said her rosary often times three times a day.

However, I lacked the knowledge, wisdom and understanding that there are conditions that we must exercise and meet in order for God to receive our prayers; otherwise, they can very well be snatched up by Satan and his agents on the premise that our prayers must align with the Word of God. And Satan, he knows this.

Another factor in this example as it relates to my first husband, I was putting him before God. I was desperately seeking a united front with man first. Jesus tells us to put Him before everyone else.

Proverbs 3:6 Amplified Bible (AMP)

[a] In all your ways know and acknowledge and recognize Him,
And He will make your paths straight and smooth [removing obstacles that block your way].

Matthew 6:31-33

Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

Moving On

Upon my reading the following scripture below, I was a bit taken aback, but it is important to read the before and after scriptures so that you receive the context of the message and not the “con”.

In the following scripture, exercising obedience is essential. I had to look at the entire purpose which ultimately for me, was the goal of eternal life, equally important, I learned that once I put GOD FIRST, the enemy did not have no more power over me. I say this on the premise that once we come to that degree of trusting and loving God with all our heart, seeking His face, striving for eternal life, picking up our cross and following Jesus, we are empowered because the enemy can no longer use our loved ones against us. We overcome the loss, we look forward to the day when we will see them again, we look forward to the day of no more tears, no more sorrow, no more pain and suffering, etc.

This same principle I follow when it comes to things and all matters that are pleasing to the flesh. In my walk with God, I have since learned that idols are anything that we give more of our time to above God, anything, for example: sports, television, internet and etcetera. These things become “ones Idol” “one's earthly god” if excessiveness is exercised.

Even with our loved ones, too often, we can get caught up in our children’s school curriculums wanting them to be over achievers, caught up in our careers, the greed of money, luxury, material things. STOP! Ask yourself, how much time did I spend with God today? Who did I worship today?

There is a scripture in the book of Revelations: Jesus says I prefer that you were either hot or cold, because even if you are lukewarm, I will vomit you out of my mouth [paraphrasing].

So, I ask you are you hot for Jesus? Or are you being selfish or are you glorifying Satan. God gave me the vision of a scale: Very simple scale of one through ten, to chart each day, how much time was given to Him (God), Self and Satan. Noting the fact that any acts of hatred, bitterness, discord, envy and etc., was a check for glorifying Satan.

Up Close and Personal

During one of our many days of fellowshipping, with my mother-in-law and sister-in-law (Christina), my mother-in-law confessed that she felt guilty because she would go through her entire day, many days, never acknowledging God. The Holy Spirit and I are smiling right now, for what I am about to say next. So, my mother-in-law stated that she was going to make a sticky note, a “post it”, to remind her to pray and acknowledge God each day.

So, I said, WAIT A MINUTE! What if in that long line waiting to get before Jesus, on judgment day, you make your way there, it is your turn and Jesus says, Oh No, you’re going to have to go back to the end of the line, I haven’t got to my “post it” note yet. HELLO! The Holy Spirit is chuckling in me now! We are having an LOL moment!

Of course, I was taken aback; however, at some point I was moved and inspired by the Holy Spirit to right the poem titled “Imagine” in honor of the Holy Spirit.

The Word of God is deep, The Holy Spirit has opened my eyes and ears to so much and I am so grateful and thankful and the joy and the peace that follows is indescribable. There are days when I am just in awe!!!

Matthew 10:34-38 New International Version (NIV)

34 “Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. 35 For I have come to turn
“‘a man against his father,
    a daughter against her mother,
a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law—
36     a man’s enemies will be the members of his own household.’[
a]
37 “Anyone who loves their father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; anyone who loves their son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. 38 Whoever does not take up their cross and follow me is not worthy of me.

Moving On

The message in the above scripture, at first reading was disturbing; however, as I continued to read through to verses 37 and 38, divine revelation kicked in. We are not all spiritually on the same level in our walk with God the Holy Spirit; so many Christians are still caught up in the flesh, seeking selfish gain.

Some Christians are caught up in the religion and not the relationship with God the Holy Spirit; our comforter, our helper, our advocate, etc. We must become vertical and not horizontal. The vertical plane leads us to that relationship with God, the horizontal plane leads us to that relationship with Satan.

For instance, in order for us to be overcomers, defeating the enemy and his conniving and cunning means to bring divisiveness among us we must keep our eyes and ears on God the Holy Spirit, our actions and our words must align with God.

We wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities of this earth, Satan, he is the prince of this earth due to the fact that Adam and Eve was compromised, they allowed sin to enter into the earth due to their disobedience to God the Father. Eve allowed Satan to bait her, to tempt her into eating the forbidden fruit thus Satan now had a gateway to earths territory.

However, Jesus Christ, The Messiah, God’s only begotten Son made the ultimate sacrifice to purchase us back, by His precious blood. We owe Jesus Christ! We are indebted to Him; and too, our life here on this earth is temporary, our goals and objectives and our purpose should be eternal life.

To achieve this eternal life we must keep our eyes on Jesus Christ and know that once Jesus returns and Satan is removed from this earth, our loved ones could possibly be awaiting to be reunited with us yet again.

So, I ask you, on a scale of one through ten: are you hot or cold or lukewarm?

How much of your time is spent with The Holy Spirit each day, acknowledging Him in all you do.

I include Him when I am watching television, traveling, dining out or in, doing laundry, preparing meals, housecleaning, shopping (He’s smiling with me right now because on our shopping sprees for grocery, I always ask Him if He wants a treat of some sort, you see my eyes roam on the chocolates and the ice creams and more, lol), more importantly, I acknowledge and include The Holy Spirit, God’s Spirit, The One Whom Jesus baptizes us in.

Noteworthy: The following scripture, just stood out for me one day, in verse three (3) Jesus is saying: no one can “see the kingdom of God unless…”

And verse five (5) Jesus says: no one can enter the kingdom of God unless…”

John 3:3-6 New International Version (NIV)

Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.[a]
“How can someone be born when they are old?” Nicodemus asked. “Surely they cannot enter a second time into their mother’s womb to be born!”
Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit[b] gives birth to spirit.

Revelation 3:12-16 New International Version (NIV)

12 The one who is victorious I will make a pillar in the temple of my God. Never again will they leave it. I will write on them the name of my God and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem, which is coming down out of heaven from my God; and I will also write on them my new name. 13 Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches.

To the Church in Laodicea

14 “To the angel of the church in Laodicea write:
These are the words of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the ruler of God’s creation. 15 I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! 16 So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth.

My prayer: Dear God, I pray that whomever this message is for that he or she finds it, receives it, act on it and be blessed. In Jesus’ name. Amen. This is for your glory, God, not mines.
