Greetings from Dr. Cynthia (Freeman) Morris!  Happy Mother’s Day!

Motherhood has never been more important than it is right now.  Our children and grandchildren are facing situations we could not have imagined twenty years ago. Our only daughter is having her first baby.  Of course, our family is filled with excitement and great anticipation as we await the birth of our fourth grandchild, a girl.  However, this joyous event has made me reconsider many things in my life such as what type of legacy am I leaving for my children and grandchildren?  When everything is said and done all they will have are the memories, words, and works I left behind.  My mother use to say, “May the life you live speak for you.”  What will your life say about the time God gave you to make a difference in the lives of the children and grandchildren He entrusted into your stewardship?  I want to leave a Christian, Christ filled legacy for my offspring that will continue to produce God’s will in their lives and in the lives of generations yet to be born.
What can you do as a mother and grandmother for your children and grandchildren in these last days?

Pray more for them.  There is nothing like an interceding mother or grandmother.  They are a threat to Satan and the kingdom of darkness.  Although you can and should recruit others to pray for your family no one can pray for your children and grandchildren with the same fervor for them like you can. Only God cares about and loves them more than you do.  I do not care how busy your job or ministry might keep you, it is imperative that you make time to pray for your family.

Luke 18:1 states “Men ought to always pray and not faint.” This is not a message of condemnation.  God wants you to be a successful parent.  God is for you, not against you.  If you are missing it in this area of your parenting responsibility repent and ask the Holy Spirit to help you fulfill your God given role as an intercessor in the lives of your offspring.  The point is to never stop praying for your family.  No matter the cost do not give up on them!

Teach them the Word of God.  So many Christian children do not know the Bible.  They cannot quote scriptures. They do not even know basic things like the books of the Bible.  Sadly, many of them can quote secular, ungodly music word for word. Build the Word of God in the spirits of your children and grandchildren.  The Word when spoken is the only thing God is obligated to honor and Satan will obey.  Isaiah 54:13 states “And all thy children shall be taught of the Lord and great shall be their peace.”   Teach them the Word of God. Do not leave them spiritually ignorant, defenseless, and vulnerable to demonic deception and attacks.  The Word of God is their only offensive weapon in this increasingly wicked world.  They need an extensive knowledge of the Word of God if they are to live a successful Christian life long after you are gone if Jesus tarries.
Lead your children and grandchildren to Christ at the earliest age possible.  It is much easier to do if you are saved and living a consistent Christian life.  They will follow what you do more quickly than what you say.  I Corinthians 11:1 states “Follow me as I follow Christ.” Joshua 24:15 states “As for me and my household we will serve the Lord.”  Claim your children and grandchildren for Christ.  Live for Christ and they will follow your lead.  Our daughter paid me the greatest compliment ever.  She told me that she could see the reality of Christ in my life because I never waivered from my faith.  What a blessing!

Teach them to love God. Mark 12:30 states “Thou shall love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, with all thy soul, with all thy mind, and with all thy strength.”  Your children and grandchildren will love what you love.  If they see that you love God, they will too.

Do not underestimate Satan and the worldly influences he uses to lure your children and grandchildren into darkness.  Utilize all that God has given you through the redemptive work of Christ to reach them for the Kingdom of Light.  You must take your role as a parent and grandparent seriously.  This is not a dress rehearsal. It is the real thing.  You have only one chance on this side of heaven to make an impact on your children and grandchildren that will have eternal consequences for the cause of Christ.  Do not miss your window of opportunity to do so.  Your children and grandchildren need your leadership.  Even if you have no children ask God to give you spiritual offspring that you can influence for the Kingdom.  Do all you can by the grace of God and with the help of the Holy Spirit to leave a godly legacy in the earth that will reach this world for Christ.  Have a blessed day.  I love you all.
