Praying for Our Governments is a matter that is Dear To God’s Heart, In Christ Jesus name…

Dear Heavenly Father, I am thankful for my brief encounter recently, by a gentleman whose name is Kurt. During our brief encounter there were a couple of subject matters that inspired me to write this Blog coupled with the Blog on “Who Is The Holy Spirit”. I pray that You will bestow Your Spirit of Wisdom, Heavenly Father upon those who lack knowledge, wisdom and understanding on these two subject matters. In The name of Jesus Christ.

I am thankful Heavenly Father, that during audible downloads in 2016, governed by The Holy Spirit, that You directed me to follow the teachings of Derek Prince Ministries.

Christians are responsible for the government they live under. If you would take less time to criticize and more time to pray, you would have less to criticize.

There are various ways the church can make her authority effective in this country. I would suggest four ways: prayer, witnessing, preaching, and doing good. These are the primary ways in which God expects the church to exercise her influence.

God desires the church to exert a controlling influence in the affairs of this world through prayer. This is clearly stated in the Scriptures. If the church fails to do it, the church has become salt that has lost is savor.

In 2 Chronicles 7:14 we read: “If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” This is a revelation given by the Lord to Solomon after he had dedicated the temple. Some of you undoubtedly have the attitude: That promise was spoken to Solomon a long time ago in the Old Testament and it does not have much meaning for us today. Let me deal with this objection briefly.

The Bible says: First of all in Christian activity—pray. The first topic for prayer is all those in authority. What are we to pray for? That we may lead a godly, quiet and peaceable life. Why are we to pray this way? Because that helps to propagate the gospel. Is that not logical? Have I convinced you? To me this is plain, simple common sense. It is not a remote mystery.

Thank God, the mysteries have been dispelled by the light of God’s Word! It is plain, it is practical, it is simple, it is down-to-earth, it works. I believe that it is the will of God for us to have a good government. Let us not talk about other countries or nations. Let us concentrate on this one. Good government for New Zealand [and for all nations] is the will of God.

What does the Bible say will happen if we pray for things according to God’s will? First John 5:14–15 tells us:

“Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.”

In other words, if you know that you are praying according to the will of God, then you know that God hears you; and if you know that God hears you, you know you have the petition that you presented. If it is the will of God for this nation to have good government, and if we pray for good government knowing it is the will of God, we know that God hears us; and if we know that God hears us, we know we have the petition that we desired. If we do not have good government, what is the reason? God’s people have not met His conditions and prayed.

Generally speaking, you can say that Christians get the kind of government they deserve. There is a time lag. It does not happen instantly. But by and large, Christians are responsible for the government they live under. If you would take less time to criticize and more time to pray, you would have less to criticize.

There is a very definite, scriptural reason why this is so. Why are God’s people responsible? Because we are the only people who have the means to accomplish the results.

“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places” (Ephesians 6:12).
